The Young Lawyers Committee of the Westmoreland Bar Association is excited to launch a Legal Career Shadowing Program for residents and students of Westmoreland County.
This program is designed to give students who are interested in law the opportunity to shadow a WBA member in order to gain valuable insight into the daily tasks and lives of legal professionals. This is an opportunity to give back to the next generation of legal professionals, and to encourage students who may not otherwise have a legal mentor.
In order to participate, students must submit an application through the WBA, including their résumé and a brief questionnaire. Students are required to be 18+, but can be high school, undergraduate, or law students. The student will then subsequently be paired with a WBA member for shadowing. The student will coordinate with the WBA and the WBA member to arrange a suitable date for shadowing.
If you are a student who would like to participate in this program, click this link: I am a student who would like to shadow a WBA member.
WBA members who sign up to participate in the program are asked to provide a one-day, 5-8 hour commitment, at their law firm, the Courthouse, or other professional environment, allowing the student to gain valuable insight into the daily duties, educational requirements, and opportunities for lawyers and other legal professionals. Students are required to sign an Agreement and Release Form with the WBA prior to participating.
If you are interested in signing up to be a Mentor in the Legal Career Shadowing Program, please click this link: I am a WBA member who agrees to be shadowed.
Upon receiving an application for a student who the WBA feels would be a good match for you, you will be contacted to arrange a shadowing opportunity.
